Batik Indonesia Goes International !

In Indonesia Java International Destination, we have the best collection of Javanese traditional batik cloth, especially from Yogyakarta and Surakarta that has a special meaning for Javanese people as the conceptualization of the universe. The traditional colors, including indigo, black and brown and white represent Brahmā, Visnu and Śiva on behalf of the Indian’s main gods.
This is one of the examples about natural dyes which are only available in indigo and brown. Some patterns are only worn by nobles; Traditionally, the wider stripes or the greater line-waves show the high social status. As a result, during the traditional Javanese ceremony, a person’s status may be recognized from the fabric that he or she worn. Other patterns are usually taken from daily life. Each has its own uniqueness style and combines with imitation such as flower, nature, animals, folklore, or person. The colors of coastal batik cloth from northern Java are particularly vibrant, and the patterns are mixture from the Javanese, Arabs, Chinese, and Dutch culture. In the colonial era, the residents in that area are Chinese, Dutch, and Eurasians descendants who love coastal batik cloth. On October 2, 2009, UNESCO selected Indonesian batik cloth as human oral and intangible heritage masterpieces. Because of that, it makes Batik kept as one of Indonesian cultural heritage.
Javanese batik cloth has a strong symbolic meaning. According to the Indonesian tradition, each batik cloth represents the craftsman style which is special and complex. It is designed not only based on the fabrics, but also the meaning that has been deeply engraved in the mind and soul.
In the Kraton, or the Javanese courts, batik cloth is a “high arts” learnt by civilized Javanese gentlemen. Batik cloth, along with music and dance, means developing the spirit of discipline. Batik cloth is resulted from the design using textile dyeing resistance. Resistance is usually made of wax (but other materials such as rice paste can also be used) in order to prevent fabric dyes broken in the coverage area that can create the negative pattern. Another thing is the increasing in wax decorative design or keeping the original color of dye bath area. Fabric is colored using dye bath and then, does the second immersion.
The coloring processes are repeated a certain number of times to get the color of dyes that are wanted. The production of a high-quality piece of batik cloth fabrics requires a high degree of skill and spends time.
